Summer Reads

I’m a little behind in putting together my post for today. Things have been just crazy. I knew there was a reason I was dreading summer. For the past 2 weeks, I’ve been carrying Little Man to swim lessons, an hour round-trip daily. This week I start 2 hours round-trip daily to take Drama Queen to Girl Scout Day Camp. But after that, their summer obligations are strictly fun. I also had to work yesterday and the rest of this week, along with having family come in next weekend. Sigh…

One thing I’m hoping to get to do this summer is read. Eventually. I’ve got a book waiting on my bedside table by Lara Adrian. The newest in her Midnight Breed series titled Ashes of Midnight. I’m also hoping to pick up some new books at conference in July.

So tell me, what does your summer reading list look like? Anything new or exciting you’ve discovered?

In the last few weeks, I've read all 9 Sookie Stackhouse books. Now, of course, I have to wait months for the next one. I hate that.

My summer reading list has been mostly romantic comedy with some J.R. Ward tossed in for good measure. I read her Lover series in 4 days and now like Smarty Pants am in a holding pattern waiting on the next one. Also like S.P. I HATE that!

One of our chapter mates, Lynn Raye Harris, has a book out in August, but I don't have to wait for it because I got an early copy to review for the Playground website. That's next on my list to read and I can't wait!

SP (and Soapbox Queen Rhonda) got me hooked on the Sookie books. I got #6 on Saturday and stayed in bed all day to finish it yesterday. Started #7 immediately afterwards...

I'm reading Fade to Black by Leslie Parrish right now. I won the ARC and am loving it so far. Much darker than her Leslie Kelly books, but really great.

I haven't read any of the Sookie Stackhouse books, but love the series True Blood. I'll have to add those to my list of books to read if I ever get my tbr pile under control.

Oh, I can't stand it when I get to the end of an already established series and have to wait for more! I did that with the J.R. Ward books too. Read the first 5 in a week. And the next one will be about John. Yippee!!!!

Yep, I'm sure I'll be looking into the Sookie Stackhouse books later this summer.

Liza, I'll have to check out Leslie Parrish. The darker the better for me, so that sounds really good. Thanks!

Ugh. Just found out for sure that the next Sookie book coming out in October is NOT the new book. Its a compliation of all the short stories. Dagnabit.

I have Instigator's latest on my nightstand--AFTERBURN--as well as another author in the BLAZE line that the editor I'm pitching edited. And I have the 6th Harry Potter book--DD wants me to get ready for the next film (I've read them all, but this is a refresher).

Angel: I know what you mean about all the running around during the summer. It's the worst writing time for me, but here I am trying to get my act together for the RWA National Conference--amazing how much I can get done in a half an hour if necessary.

Never heard of the Sookie books--

Oh, want to add to my Colleen Gleason library as well.

Oh, I have a stack, there is J.R. Ward, and Anne Bishop. There was Charlaine Harris...*sigh* Finished, like SP I am awaiting the next book.

Thing is I don't have time to read for many reasons, and its driving me nuts! LOL

Ah well, work before pleasure I suppose.
