- Wearing nice clothes every day.I spend most days in sweats, so the opportunity to actually look good is one I actually look forward to. I know, folks who have to get dressed every day won’t see this as a plus, but I love it. Possibly because it is only for a few days.I can go back to my normal schlumpy self after.
- Putting names with faces. I “know” a lot of people on line. Folks who read our blog, other Harlequin authors, other bloggers, etc. Meeting them face-to-face is something I’m really looking forward to.
- Being Kimberly Lang. Don’t get me wrong – I adore my husband and child. I like being a wife and a mom. But sometimes I want to be me – not AC’s Mom or DG’s wife. No one expects me to cook or clean or find their socks. I need that occasionally. Conference is my time to be me.
- Time with folks I don’t see often. My fabu CP will be at conference, plus there are folks I only see a couple of times a year at different events. It’s like a reunion only without the horrible memories and residual teenage angst.
- Free books. What’s not to love there? And you all should love that too because I’ll be restocking my giveaway shelf.
(Things I’m not looking forward to: trying to fit all my stuff into one suitcase, air travel, lack of sleep, big crowds, and the sore throat/cough I’m guaranteed to get.)
So, if you’re going to Conference, what are you looking forward to? If you’re not going, do you have an event you look forward to every year?

I love going to conference and look forward to meeting you there. And my CP says to take some zinc tablets before you travel to avoid the cough. It seems to work for her. *G*
First sale ribbon. Nuff said. :)
I too am looking forward to seeing folks I only see once a year. And well... the free books too. And while I'm not published like you or getting a first sale ribbon like some others I know, I will have the PRO designation on my badge. I busted chops to earn that and will wear it proudly.
I don't know what I'm looking forward to, precisely. Just going. Feeling the buzz of energy. Getting to cheer for Angel. Laughing, dancing, drinking. Talking until all hours.
Of course, I don't look forward to the travel, the lack of sleep or the aching feet.
PM, you deserve to be proud of that accomplishment!!
Pictures.
I'm looking forward to the pictures you all will take...:)
Also a big "whoohoo" to Lynn for her first sale ribbon, and PM's Pro status!
It might be easier for me to talk about what I'm NOT looking forward to at conference. The air travel (I have a fear of flying). The energy crash after I come home. That's about it. :)
Like PC, I really enjoy this chance to be myself. I love my family, but at home there are too many responsibilities waiting for me at the end of the day to totally immerse myself in any role other than wife, mother, and housekeeper. There may be short periods of time, but conference will be days on end. Woohoo!
Not to mention all my Golden Heart functions (I'm so excited/nervous), meeting lots of new people this year (all my new Golden Heart fellow finalists!), touching base with other authors, and attending some of the fabulous workshops (they seem to have some good ones this year). But, yeah, just getting to wear that GH ribbon will be one of the most exciting things that has happened in my writing career. Can't wait!

In case anyone is interested, a fellow GH finalist has posted pictures and directions around the area in DC where the hotel is. You can find it at www.jamiemichelebooks.com

First conference for me... nervous and happy to meet my new friend and roomie. I am looking forward to the city--love DC and all it has to offer as it was my home till last year. I am excited to see Angel during the GH celebration. I am tense about my Editor/agent pitches. I am anxious to buy water and goodies and more for while I stay at the hotel...
I hope to build new connections and forge deeper friendships.
I look forward to seeing my grandbaby and she is only 10 mins. away.
But I also look forward to my family from Calif who I dont get to see too often. 2 of them are coming a few weeks.
Enjoy your conference.

Hanging with friends, learning as much as I can, meeting new people, trying new things, and last but definitely not least...
Eating real food. Nuff said... :)
