Back to Real Life

For a lot of people today is the first day back to work. Back to the regular routine. Back to normal. But it won't be for long because the New Year is just around the corner. And the resolutions to lose weight, write more, get that promotion... This is the time of year I always look back and start evaluating.

Did I accomplish what I wanted over the last year? Did I let something slide?

I also start thinking about the next year and what I'd like to do differently...better. So do you have any New Year's resolutions? What goals are you planning to set as a priority as we enter the New Year?

P.S. Here's a picture of our new (to us) truck. DH is so excited :-) And considering the trouble the old one caused us over the last week at least this whole thing ended with a vehicle that can fit all four of us inside.

I have a small, pretty box I picked up in New Mexico a few years back. Since then, on New Year's I always write down my goals and wishes on small slips of paper and put them in the box. The goals are things I plan to do; the wishes are out of my control. When that's done, I put the box away and let it simmer through the year. At the end of the year I take out the slips of paper and see which goals and wishes have come to pass. Not all of them, never all, but when I hit about 75%I'm happy. :-)

Nice truck! I know it's been a hassle for y'all but it's over now.

I still have "Christmas-ing" to do on Saturday so it's not all over for me yet.

I like Maven LJ's idea. I'll have to search out a box. I have a few pretty wooden ones I could use -- if I can find them.

Love the truck. I wish we could get DB a new one. I guess we'll just wait until we have to, like you did.

I checked my list from last year after reading this. I did pretty good! My major slip up was working on my writing. But all those nice little excuses I used for not accomplishing it are now gone.
1)Family computer - children always on it (Hubby bought me a laptop for Christmas!)
2)Long hours at stressful job (New job - no stress - 3 1/2 days/week)
3)Taxi mom (daughter now 16 with her own car and doesn't want to be seen riding with her mom!)

Looks like I know what my priority goals will be for next year. And congrats on the truck!
