Sweet Pea's teacher pulled me aside yesterday morning while I was dropping her off at school to tell me a story she just had to share. To start you really need to know that her teacher has been very supportive of my writing career and even made a point of mentioning me as an author to the class during a lesson the first few weeks of school. Sweet Pea was so proud.
It seems that they've been covering creative writing recently (my impression was maybe for the last grading period). Anyway, during this time they discussed organizing the story, had an organization journal, talked about the actual creative process and then each wrote stories. This week her teacher asked the class what they all thought the next step would be. My brilliant child immediately piped up with, "Submit it to your editor."
It's nice to know she's been paying attention. I wonder if my editor would be interested in reading their stories. :-)
On a completely unrelated subject, what kind of plans do you have for memorial day weekend? We're going to our local hot air balloon festival. Sweet Pea is really hoping she gets her first ride this year. We'll see if the weather and the ballooning gods cooperate. She's in for some fun if she does...there's a secret ritual for first time fliers. Mwahahahahah

I just was at the midnight showing of Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull and I'll probably go again this weekend. I'm pathetic, I know.
What a sweet story; you have an upcoming writer.....
As for memorial day weekend; my hope, and my plan is to write some and start working officially on my pitch. I really need to make up some lost time.
Reality? It will be taken up by family actitivities. I may try to go see Prince Caspian with the kids...(I'm not even going to try for the Indiana Jones for a while).
Congrats, Maggie.
Sweet Pea is surely smart.
We are bringing take out on Sat to my aunt's for her 90th bday and maybe on Sunday go to a barbeque; then on Monday hope to do errands, relax and look for a new couch. Happy MDWE to all.

Cute Sweet Pea story. Maybe she'll organize the class into critique groups next. :-)
After several busy weekends, I plan to do nothing. We're going to the campground and I plan to lounge around the pool and read. I am hoping maybe I can talk the DH into going to see Indiana Jones one night though. If not, I'll just go by myself.

How cute! LOL!
I have inlaws visiting. And revisions to finish. I think I won't be relaxing much...
What a sweet story.
My weekend will be crazy. My sister is in the hospital and her husband is having out-patient surgery tomorrow. I'll drive down to Hoover tomorrow and take care of her 3 girls and her husband. Hopefully my sister will be able to come home on Saturday or Sunday.
Oh, I love that!
Hysterical. At least she didn't say "Call the Playfriends and go to Starbucks."
I'm going to camp this weekend with AC. Stop laughing. I'm being a Good Mother and Spending Quality Time With My Child.
Please just don't make it be in one of those barracks-style cabins...
I hate the great outdoors... I'll probably have to go for a mani-pedi next week just to recover.
PC, you are too funny! Here's hoping you survive.
I obviously don't talk about this sort of stuff in front of my kids enough. I can't imagine Drama Queen saying something like that.
Just FYI! I came home with a bottle of Water Babies sunscreen last night for us to use this summer. Stripped off the wrapper and checked the expiration date (hidden under the wrapper). It was expired!!! Needless to say, I'll be taking it back to Walmart. Y'all keep an eye out for expiration dates on your sunscreen.

Instigator, that is so sweet!
No big plans for the weekend but the hot air balloon festival sounds interesting. And about that secret ritual???
PC - Have fun! I like camping and I like children. Just not a lot of both at the same time!
Oh, how cute!
Today I attempted the "45-minute" writing sessions with the kids home. FYI: I'm aiming for 2 45-minute sessions a day this summer while the kids are here. If I get more than that, great. If not, at least I managed to accomplish something. :)
Today went well. I only had to ask was someone bleeding twice. And I wrote 6 pages. Yay!
