Forgetful Friday

I have this feeling like I’m supposed to have done something. In the words of Pooh, “think, think, think.” Oh yeah. It’s Friday. I’m supposed to blog. Knew I missed something last night. I kept looking at the computer and thinking – I’m supposed to do something on there tonight. Get on myspace? I can do that later. There’s something else. What was it?

Well, here I am, in all my unprepared glory. My issues are compounded by a v-e-r-y s---l---o---w internet connection at work today, so you’ll be lucky if you read this before 10 AM or so. In that case, I won't be able to read your comments because I’m leaving work early today to meet the lovely gentleman that will be delivering all my new living room furniture. I went nuts several weeks ago at a local furniture place and the bulk of it is coming at last. My dining room set came Tuesday and it looks great. Maybe this weekend I will actually be able to get my downstairs in order. Heh. We’ll see. Depends on how long I have to spend at the Madison County office getting my homestead filed, changing my drivers license, paying my vehicle registration, and changing my address on that. Of course its three different lines. There goes my afternoon...

To make up for it, I’m having a massage and a facial at a very nice spa here in town tomorrow morning. My mom and I are going as a little afternoon treat. I’m hoping I don’t break out from all the abuse. Later that night, I have to attend a going away party for a friend who’s moving to Orlando, so I have to look good.

I think I was one of the only cars on the road this morning – no one works Fridays in this town. Must have big plans before school starts up again. Do you have any fun plans for the weekend? Are you getting the kidlets ready for school or do you live in an area where you get a few more weeks off?

I'm viewing at 8:30am, so you're still good. :)

I'm getting a little time off this weekend to write, which is good, because I have SciQuest on Monday, Chuck E. Cheese on Tuesday (a farewell to summer thing), and Swimming on Wednesday. As if that weren't enough, school starts in the county on Thursday. So I'll be shipping my kidlet off to a new grade and teacher I know nothing about. They have this weird tradition here where parent orientation isn't until about 2 weeks into school. How come I don't get to go early and meet her teacher?

Anyway... Enjoy arranging all that new furniture and your spa trip. Sounds like fun!

No kidlets left at home to get ready for school.

Next Thursday???? Sheesh. Summer isn't even over.

I do have plans for the weekend. We're going to the campground and tomorrow night there's a Parrothead party on the sand volleyball court. Should be fun. I have my tropical-print shirt to wear.

Have fun at the spa. I love spa days. Haven't had one in a few years. Maybe I'll put it on my Christmas list. And enjoy the new furniture. I love new furniture -- the new smell, the new feel, the way it makes things look all... well... NEW!

School starts way too early these days. It's ridiculous.

This weekend, I will be doing nothing much at all, and that's a good thing. I just mailed a book off, and that means my brain needs recovery time. It isn't working well at all, at the moment. Yesterday I organized pictures and CDs. Today I might organize the DVDs. Oh, the excitement! :-)

Enjoy your downtime, SP! You deserve it.

This weekend, if I can shake the cold DH gave me, I'm going to be busting my butt on revisions.

Speaking as a teacher - next week is way to early!! August 15th is way too early!

I can remember when school began the Wednesday after Labor Day and ended late in June...I like that.

I'd prefer if school were all year round though, even more. Three months on, one month off. This way we get to sample different seasons (well, for those of us who actually have seasons)...

This weekend i'm making flash cards, trying to get thru an accounting class for college (i hate numbers, which is why i teach reading), laundry, yard work, etc.

My kid goes to college, so there's no worrying about the little things.

As for meeting the teachers before school starts, as a parent i agree. As a teacher, well, i'd love to meet the kids first, get to know them, before i meet with the parents. This way, i have something to tell them when they ask about their kids.

Kidlets? That's funny! I'm just now realizing that I only have 2 years left before the last of my 4 kidlets will be out on their own.

#4 and I are going for manis and pedis today, a late 16th birthday celebration, Mom and daughter thing. She's really looking forward to it. Saturday, I'll be working at a Golf Tournament and Sunday at our local AAA baseball field. Oh, the joy.

Enjoy your new furniture, SP! Your house is going to look fabo! Have fun camping, PM! Get well, Instigator! I need to get my CDs and DVDs organized too, Maven LJ. I've been gathering stuff up for our church's annual garage sale and I'm realizing how long its been since I've gone through and organized a lot of things. :-)

Nails and Toes for me, then a 25th anniversary party, then Redskins Training Camp on Sunday. What can I say? I'm a freak of nature who loves professional football...alot.

Enjoy your relaxing weekend though. Sounds great.

My DH goes to the Training Camp thru Home Depot. He gets tickets every year and loves it. I'm hoping this year, he remembers his wife and takes me too. It's not too far from my house, about two hours.

My DH is building his theater room (room exists -- what I mean is he's putting the stuff in it and running cable). So, I imagine I'll be watching men (my hubby and a pal, not professionals) drill holes in my ceiling and cuss when they have trouble running cables to the other end of the room. I'll also be called upon to hold one end of this gigantic theater screen while he stands back and says, "Higher on the left. No, no, lower." :)

Is it really time for school to start? Wow.

Nini - We're practically neighbors then! Yup, I'll be there. I love to go to Training Camp.

I'm so glad it's football season again!

Oh, I have new furniture envy! You must send pictures!

What are we doing this weekend? Working on my Mom's place. Fixing a leak on the porch, putting in a screen door, etc... (Birthday present.)

I'm tired just thinking about it. :-)
