MOANday: I'm Cheating!

In a lot of ways, actually! No, its not what you think. I'm just fudging the date of MOANday a little for March. I'm out of town at the moment, and wasn't sure if I would be able to comment today, so I decided to display the eye candy early. Win-win, don't you think?

Also, I'll admit that I stole this hottie from my online buddy, Gina Leigh Maxwell. She shared his pic as her inspiration for one of her heroes and I immediately claimed him as my own!

Enjoy!

MOANday: Tom Hardy

I chose this month's MOANday inspiration because he's currently starring in the Valentine's movie This Means War. This movie looks like some guy tried to make a Valentine's movie interesting for both the guys and the girls (although I think girls still win, because we get 2 hunky hotties to check out and not just one), just so the men wouldn't be completely bored on their Valentine's dates.

Tom Hardy is an English actor who's been around quite a while, having performed in Band of Brothers, Black Hawk Down, and as the villain in Star Trek: Nemesis. More recently he was part of the cast for Inception. Maybe he'll also be inspiration for your very own Valentine hero!

MOANday... with a twist

I know. You were expecting Angel and her cadre of hot guys. But I've co-opted her Monday to share my moan-day experience.

Last week I was on vacation visiting Asheville, North Carolina. #2 son lives there so I had a wonderful chauffeur and travel companion. The hightlight of my visit was going to see Biltmore House all decorated for Christmas. I also did some shopping and had a spa afternoon with a facial and massage.

Then last Friday I bid a fond farewell to the mountains and headed home. I was about 70 miles from my destination when a car suddenly pulled out in front of me. I hit the brakes but it was too late to avoid a collision. I broadsided the other car and all I remember is the sickening crunch of the two cars colliding and then spinning around and around.

If anyone saw the collision, they did not stop. I sat in my car with my neck and shoulders in pain for at least five minutes or more until a couple in a red pick-up stopped. They called 911 and soon the EMTs had me in a cervical collar and out of my car on a backboard. Then I heard the helicopter come to take someone from the other car to the hospital. After a long ride to the trauma center at our local hospital, I was wheeled into a cubicle and the team went to work.

I was praying they didn't cut off my jacket. It's new. I love it. It is worth more than the rest of what I was wearing combined. My prayers were answered but my sweater, camisole, bra and jeans weren't so lucky. I was poked and prodded, asked a ton of questions, had x-rays made of my foot and pelvis and then taken to have a CT scan of my neck.

After the films and scans were read, I was declared free of any breaks and told I could go home. Two of the Playfriends were there at the hospital with me and the others were working in the background to notify my family. My older son came here (he lives two hours away) and brought me home from the hospital. He also stayed the night, took me the next day to get a rental car and helped me navigate Walmart to pick up a couple things.

The Playfriends came over later that afternoon with food and promises to help in any way they can. I have to tell you that it's wonderful to have so many friends who will drop everything and come to the ER at 10 PM (at least I think that's what time it was).

But back to the cut-off clothing. When it was time for me to be released, I reminded Penny-the-nurse that I had nothing to wear home but my coat, my shoes and socks and my underpants. She said she'd get me something and came back in a bit with some gray sweatpants and a t-shirt. When I saw what was written on the back of the shirt, I pointed it out to Angel and Problem Child. Then the nurse saw it and began to apologize.

"Oh no! I love it!" I said, clutching the shirt to me. "It rocks."

"Uh, do you have another one?" asked Problem Child.

And just what does this shirt look like?

Don't you love it? It's my new favorite t-shirt.

I walked away from the accident without any broken bones. My car is totaled and I'm going to have to go car shopping this week or next. But despite no breaks, I have plenty of bruises and strains. I'm feeling like a big truck hit me and then backed up to see what it had hit. Today (and the past couple) have been moan-day for me.

But just so you won't feel cheated, here's a little treat for you.

Seeley Booth does a lot more for a hospital gown than I do. ;-)

MOANday: Jason Momoa

I don't know about you, but I could use a little refilling of the well after a long, focused month of NaNoWriMo! And what better way to rejuvenate those writerly senses than to revisit MoanDay!

The hubby recently rented Conan the Barbarian, and while the story isn't really my cup of tea, the hottie on the screen surely was. Meet actor/director Jason Momoa. I think his picture says it all! He's starred in a variety of roles from Baywatch to Stargate Atlantis. And I can certainly see why! :)

Happy Moan Day, everyone!!!

MOANday: Sean Bean

To follow up on last month’s MoanDay hottie, Viggo Mortensen, I’m inviting his fellow Lord of the Rings co-star Sean Bean to model for us today.

Photobucket

Yum!

Photobucket

I admit, I found his looks much more versatile than his co-star's. Here is the ultra-sophisticated businessman for those Presents novels.

Photobucket

Tortured hero on the run for romantic suspense.

Photobucket

Historical Soldier

Photobucket

Even the evil villain in a modern thriller.

Photobucket

But again, my current obsession leads me back to a noble, knight impression.

Don’t labor too much today!!!

MOANday: Viggo Mortensen

I’ve recently started watching the Lord of the Rings Trilogy. Yes, I’m late to the party, but they weren’t something that really interested me before. Now, I’m looking for options for my Harry Potter-loving daughter, who is moving beyond kids movies but not ready for a lot of adult content. A friend loaned these to me so I could see if they’d be suitable for her, since she's interested in magic.

My favorite part? The rugged men. Nope, not the hobbits, elves, and miscellaneous magical creatures. I find myself following the hotties more than anything. I think part of it is my current obsession with Knights of the Round Table. And this guy would be a perfect match: Viggo Mortensen.

Photobucket

I love this look on him! Long hair, scruffy chin, haunted eyes. Yum!

Photobucket

I have to admit, I’m not a fan of many of Viggo’s other looks: no blond hair, gray hair, really short cuts, etc. His features change drastically with his hair color and cut. But this one is pretty nice (if I can’t have the knight look).

Photobucket

But I have to admit, it’s the long hair that gets me. :)

So tell me, do you have an actor you really only care for in certain movies or dressing certain ways? We're often comparing our characters to So-and-so as a specific character.

MOANday: Luncheon Hotties

I realized recently that with the tornadoes and power being out and all, I never posted a Moan Day in May!!! What’s up with that?!?!

So we are due for a good dose of hotness this month! I picked a few from the hottie archives for your viewing pleasure. And this first guy is actually really sweet and nice – I had the pleasure of meeting him this past weekend at the HOD luncheon, where he took pictures with our attendees so they could make their own romance cover. Yep, the Playfriends who attended managed to survive the luncheon another year, and enjoyed hearing Kerrelyn Sparks’s hilarious speech! You must ask her about the Cabin #9 fan mail. And I got to have lunch and dinner with Barbara Vey, which was awesome because I’ll be missing the annual breakfast with her at RWA Nationals this year. And dinner with Kerrelyn, Emily March, and Barbara Vey. Woohoo!

Now, for the hotties:

Photobucket
Simon, who appeared at the Heart of Dixie Luncheon, who was fantastic with the ladies, and graciously carried our very heavy HOD author basket to its recipient. And his pecs are even better in person. ;)

Photobucket

Gotta love a cowboy and his... chaps...

Photobucket

Hmmm... I may have a slight thing for tattoos that I may have mentioned...

Photobucket

Is that a baseball bat or...

Photobucket

I'm a sucker for a guy on a motorcycle. Well, only if he looks like this one. :)

I really need some new ideas for MoanDay hotties! Who would you most like to see?

MOANday: Superheroes

I read a LOT of paranormal romance – I think because the heroes are dark and mysterious, often wounded creatures who lash out at those around them until the one person they can connect with comes along to turn everything around. This month I thought I’d celebrate MOANday with some of the hottie superheroes on the big screen.

Photobucket

Chris Evans as Johnny Storm (Fantastic 4)

Photobucket

David Lyons as Vince Farraday (The Cape)

Photobucket

George Clooney as Batman

Photobucket

Wesley Snipes as Blade

Photobucket

Milo Ventimiglia as Peter Petrelli (Heroes)

Photobucket

James Marsden as Scott Summers, Cyclops (X-men)

Photobucket

Hugh Jackman as Wolverine (X-men, Wolverine)

And this guy isn’t from a movie, but he’d make great inspiration for a paranormal hero, don’t you think?

Photobucket

So who’s your favorite Big Screen Superhero?

Angel

P.S. I'd like to say a big Happy Birthday to my beautiful Drama Queen! You've made my life exciting and sweet in our 11 years together!
