MOANday-Russell Crowe

I recently realized that I’d been derelict in my MOANday duties. For some reason, we’ve never had Russell Crowe on MOANday before, but that’s going to be remedied this month. He came to my attention during a trailer for the new Robin Hood movie. Now, as a big fan of the Kevin Costner version (not necessarily because of KC, but I loved Alan Rickman!), this movie will have to be vetted by some of my trusted movie-going friends before I see it in the theaters, but Russell Crowe sure does look hot in it. Don’t you agree?

I seem to prefer the historical movies he’s been in, maybe because there’s more muscles showing. :) His previous appearance in Gladiator:

He just gives the appearance of a regular bad ass, you know? I happen to like that type of hero.

So what about you? Are you a fan of Crowe and his movies? Are Rough and Tough heroes your type, or do you go more for betas?

Okay, I'm going to kick off the comments here with a great big enormous spot of name-dropping.

Personally I've always had a bit of a soft spot for Mr Crowe ever since he starred in LA Confidential. Not only is that one of my favourite movies (Guy Pearce, Kevin Spacey, etc, what's not to like right?) but I absolutely fell in love with Russell as the volatile tough guy cop with a tragic past who falls for Kim Basinger's Veronica Lake lookalike. There's a scene where they are in bed together and he tells Basinger exactly why it is that he cannot stand to see women being abused and your heart just melts.

Anyway, moving swiftly on, as luck would have it my youngest son got picked to do some extra work on the new Robin Hood movie which was shot last year at Shepperton Studios.

Now, before anyone gets excited, no I didn't get to meet Russell (more's the pity), the kids were chaperoned on set (darn it). But my son - who had absolutely no idea who Russell Crowe was - did come home one evening telling me how Robin Hood had been on set that day and had been really friendly to everyone eventhough he had a very big horse which meant he was probably quite important! So there you have it. Not only buff, but a nice chap too... My heart melted all over again.

I've seen the previews too and am with Angel. I need to hear some feedback first before going to the theater to see this.

I like some rough and tough hero types but I also like the betas. I mean, what wasn't to love about Hugh Jackman in Van Helsing?

Verification word: bular

Is anyone here this soggy Monday morning? Bular? Bular? ~grin~

I am intrigued by the new Robin Hood (and now I'll be on the lookout for Heidi's son :-)). I probably won't end up seeing it in the theater because I just can't seem to get there these days but you never know.

Really want to see this one because God is he hot :) , but also because the trailers I've seen show this pointing in a much different direction than the KC version (which I also thought was very romantic, even if KC's accent was atrocious). The problem is, I can't stand Cate Blanchet! What's a girl to do?

Answers to your question = Yes. Yes. No. (Are you a fan of Crowe and his movies? Are Rough and Tough heroes your type, or do you go more for betas?) I'm so looking forward to seeing Robin Hood. RC in LA Confidential and Gladiator did it for me BIG TIME! Caroline x

I guess I'm the odd girl out, here. Don't really care for RC, didn't like the KC version of Robin Hood either. I'm more of a Cary Elwes, Robin Hood: Men in Tights kind of girl. No shocker, there.

Can appreciate a hard body, though... :)

OMG, Heidi!!! That's so cool! And even if he hadn't gotten to meet Russell, I can just imagine the experience he must have had being in the movie. Such a wonderful lifetime memory.

Oh yeah, Hugh Jackman as Van Helsing?!?! Totally alpha hero material.

I'm with you, Instigator. There's just so much to do and not enough time to do it... especially when you have to have a baby sitter.

You know, LeaAnn, that was my absolute first thought at seeing the trailer: "They picked HER to be Maid Marion. Ah, man!" She's definitely not my fave.

Amen, Caroline!

Now SP, I, too, like Men in Tights, but I laughed all the way through it. Not much sexual tension going on there...

I'm not a huge Russell fan, but I do like those rough heroes. And he does them pretty well.

Heidi knows everyone...

Yeah, Heidi knows everyone... Except Pierce Brosnan.... Why don't I know Pierce? When we would make such beautiful music together.

And Angel, Luca did have a great time although he was much more impressed with the dead pig he spotted in the props than anything else. And I don't know how we're going to explain to him why he's not the star of the film when we go see it next week!!

I have been a fan of Russell Crowe for a long time. I really like the rough and tough type of hero. And they have to be in the books I read.

I love Russell Crowe, but my love for him dimmed a bit when the telephone incident happened, but he seems to have settled down a lot.

Yep, temperamental heroes can go a little too far, and respect is lost when they lash out unreasonably. Good thing we can write them just the way we want them, huh? :)
