Something New

I'm getting ready to head to the RT Convention. I've spent the last several weeks picking out my wardrobe and getting my promo material ready (as previously discussed, this is a weakness of mine). Someone (and I'm not even sure who) has started something new at RT that I'm pretty excited about - romance trading cards.

Mine arrived yesterday. I maybe be biased, but I think they're awfully pretty.

My question is, as a reader, would you be interested in collecting these cards from authors that you like? I'm just wondering if my excitement is generated from seeing my cover and character info on something fun or because it actually is fun.

If you're going to be at RT be sure and stop me, Problem Child and Lynn Raye Harris as we'll all have cards to share. And I have to say that PC's and Lynn's are just as awesome as mine.

You know, I'm not much of a collector. But while I love reading e-books I really miss having the cover art, and I can see this being very popular with readers who have Kindles, Nooks, etc. Good idea! :-) -- LJ

I think it's nifty. And for those authors who are newer and not as popular at book fairs, I think its a fun way to keep them occupied and get people to stop and see them that wouldn't normally. A lot of people there will want them all.

Yes, I think it is a wonderful ideal. And your's look great! I do not have a Kindle, Nooks, etc., and would not want one. I enjoy having a book in my hands.

Yours are pretty, Insti.

(Interested parties can see mine over on my website under "news")

I think it sounds fun -- more so than the usual bookmarks and such. I hope they're a hit!

I think LJ is right about them being popular with folks who have e-readers. And SP has a point about it being a way to get your name in front of new readers. I'll have to run over to PC's website and see hers. It's an interesting concept, and I hope they all disappear into the hands of RT attendees.

Thanks everyone! I was very pleased with the design (and if anyone out there needs a design I have a recomendation for someone who can do it...you can email me).

You know, I hadn't even thought of the ebook applications for them. I do wish they were a smidge bigger so I could have fit in an autograph space, but they're standard trading card size so I was limited. I might see if I can lose something on the next go round to leave room somewhere.

Or maybe I should just invest in a nifty gold sharpie...

Oh, so pretty!!! I love those. And I think the idea is really neat. I can't wait to see the ones y'all bring home from RT.
