Brit Chick Lit Contest

I'm blogging over at the Pink Heart Society today, so you'll need to click over for your Tuesday dose of the Problem Child.

In honour of the Pink Heart Society (because they're mostly from the UK), I'm running a Brit Lit contest here.

Four books and a small jar of real clotted cream is the prize!

Three of the books are true modern Brit Chick Lit -- written and published in the UK (and purchased for me to read on the very long train ride from North Scotland to London, so there might be some minor creasing on the spine).

Valentine by Rebecca Farnworth

This Charming Man by Marian Keyes

50 Ways to Find a Lover by Lucy-Anne Holmes

I'll also include Duchess By Night by Eloisa James -- an American author (who happens to be a Shakespeare scholar), but a lavish English historical.

I am glad to see you ladies back from your Disney trip and I'll bet you had a wonderful time. Disney world is a wonderful trip but I will bet you ladies are worn out! I would love to take a trip to London myself and hope to one day! I have been to Disney World many years ago and would love to go back.

Ooh, I've never had clotted cream before. Must be tasty with scones.

Dear Miss Problem Child,

I'm not really the Playground Monitor, I just look like her. I love clotted cream and scones. How lovely of you to give these books away.

Enjoyed your lovely post today and the books look enticing when mixed with tea, scones and the clotted cream.

Had clotted cream in Scotland and absolutely loved it. Unfortunately, it goes bad very quickly. :(

A friend gave me a "Tea" recipe book. Here is a recipe for ersatz clotted cream.

It is almost impossible to find real English clotted cream here in the United States. This is a delicious dairy mixture that makes an acceptable substitute. Real comfort food!

1/2 pint whipping cream
1 Tablespoon sour cream
3 tablespoons confectioner's
sugar

Chill bowl and beaters, them whip all ingredients together in a bowl until very thick. Keep refrigerated.

Serve with hot scones and strawberry jam. Yum-m-m-m-m!
