Summer TV Programming

You know, there are some pretty wicked new shows coming out for the summer viewing season. Some of them just look cruel. Wipeout. If you haven't seen the commercial for this show it involves things like boxing gloves punching you off a minuscule ledge. Or having to bounce from one humongous red ball to another while avoiding the pit of mud beneath you.

Or the one where they shipped the players to Japan to compete in a Japanese game show. I think it's called I Survived a Japanese Game Show. I think the title says it all. It surely will involve pain and humiliation - a game you can never win. My brother was telling me about one where they had to contort their bodies into different shapes and jump through a moving wall. Yeah, sounds like fun.

My favorite though is the Mole. It hasn't been on for awhile but it's very interesting. Mind games and physical challenges that would make me sick to my stomach. The first night they had to fall over a waterfall while jumping for a bag of money. Everyone would think I was the mole when I refused to jump.

Then, of course, there's So You Think You Can Dance. I love this show! It reminds me of my childhood dream to be a professional dancer. I didn't have a snowball's chance in hell but I enjoy watching the flexible, talented dancers working to achieve their dream.

On the whole though, I'm looking forward to a summer of watching people get covered in mud and humiliate themselves. What are you looking forward to this summer?

P.S. I want to know what happened to June. It's been in the mid 90s here for over a week. It's supposed to rain later in the week and drop the temp...by about 2 degrees. Something tells me I don't want to be here in August.

Well, I have to admit I do like those shows like "Wipeout" and my personal favorite is Gladiator.

What am I looking forward to this summer is?...the fall.....

Really, it's too early to ask me that; especially now that the 90 degree temps are here.

DB and I sometimes watch those Japanese shows. XMC? Its overdubbed in English on Spike and its pretty funny. We watched a few minutes of the ultimate Ninja challenge or something the other day too. Completely impossible. If I ever find myself living the drama they have in action movies, you'll know I'm the girl who can't hold on and falls in the first scene of the movie. I can't even hang from monkey bars for more than a few seconds.

As for the summer...I don't like the summer. Didn't like it in Vegas, don't like it in Alabama. If I had a nice screened in patio and a pool...maybe. Otherwise, I just play vampire and scuttle from one dark, cold place to the next.

And for the record, that stupid song Darling Geek made us sing on Rock Back is STILL IN MY HEAD. Since I don't know all the words, it just keeps looping over and over. Sigh...

Jeez...my verification word is yixbhpmh.

Amen on the weather! This is about the time when that pool Hubby and I keep talking about looks like a good purchase. Tho the neighborhood has two pools, and one is only across the street and never crowded. But it's not out my back door, wahh!

TV? I got no time for TV. Trip to New Orleans in 3 weeks. Book needs to be done before trip. Shopping for National when I return. National. Recover from National. Yep, that'll take me through August. :)

Oh yes, summer is So You Think You Can Dance time! Oh, and Deadliest Catch. That's about it for my summer TV schedule.

What I'm looking forward to is day camp and AC's trip to my mom's so I can work!

I've tried not to get involved in any new shows this summer. Once Survivor, AI, Dancing with the Stars, CSI and Desperate Housewives ended, that pretty much wrapped up my viewing. Nashville Star started last night and is on the Tivo waiting for the DH to get back home. And I think we'll get 6 more episodes of Monk next month. It's amazing how much time I have to do other things when I'm not plopped in front of the TV. Of course that still doesn't explain why I haven't written anything since last month. :-/

What am I looking forward to?

San Francisco! I'm excited about the conference and seeing old friends and I'm excited about out sightseeing excursions. I've already been picking up a few things for my wardrobe.

I'm still waiting for dry, warm weather in Wisconsin. We've had tornados, torrential rains, flooding and more rain. I'm still not home, going instead to St. Louis after Cincinnati because of flooded highways.

So, I'm just hoping for any kind of summer...and of course, RWA.

No particular summer shows for me. I am working on getting my home ready to put on the market, so my time is a little limited right now. What time I do have, I pick up a book to read. And, yes the temperature is a doozy right now, to freaking hot!!!!

We love to watch So You Think You can Dance. We watched it on tivo until one in the morning the other day. However, that Mary has THE MOST GRATING LAUGH IN THE UNIVERSE. And as if her laugh isn't hideous enough, the DH and Girl insist on mocking her by mimicking her laugh along with her. I've threatened to walk out if they do it again. :0

Yeah, she is a bit annoying. And I'm not all that enamored of the hot tamale train either.

I have to admit, I don't care for all the reality shows (other than American Idol). I'm already missing the usual television shows. I'm looking forward to Burn Notice, which comes back on next month. As far as television goes for the summer -- thank goodness for Netflix. :-)

I'm looking forward to a nice unexpected cold front. Any chance that'll happen? Also looking forward to San Francisco, though I do have a LOT of shopping to do before I can leave.

I don't watch a lot of TV but there are a few shows I really enjoy. The CSI's are at the top of the list. The sitcom Two and a Half Men is hilarious so even the reruns are good for me. I totally missed Moonlight darn it.

I'm not working right now so the summer is A-OK for me. I am not a fan of cold weather and always look forward to summer and floating around in the pool with a nice cool one!. : )

I really liked Nashville Star last night. I'm ready for Monk next month, but other than those 2 shows, I'll catch re-runs or watch movies.

I'm ready for the 90 degree temps to go back to normal. It's only June and we have already hit 99 in Nashville...does not give me a good feeling about the rest of the summer.

I'll mostly be watching movies for the summer, which is good, because I should get more writing done.

I've been out running errands in the heat today, and I must say that whoever decided leather seats were a luxury item was insane! I hate mine. I came home feeling like a sweaty pig.

I'm late chiming in. I can't wait until Burn Notice either, Maven LJ! That's a cool show. :-)

Yeah, it's hot and one of my AC's are on the fritz. Argh!!! You can come and swim at my house!!
