Tantrum Tuesday

I realized today that it's been a while since we had a Tantrum Tuesday. Modeled after Rhonda Nelson's "Whine About it Wednesday," Tantrum Tuesday is your chance to let your inner 2-year-old out for a good ol' screaming hissy fit over whatever you want -- no matter how minor it is.

This is a safe place, my Honorary Playfriends. We will not judge and we will not tell you to just get over it. Whine, moan, b*tch, complain -- whatever you need to do to get it out of your system, go ahead. It's cathartic. You'll feel much better.

My Tantrum is truly a tantrum: SNOW. For the love of all things holy, how did I end up on the wrong side of the Mason-Dixon Line? I've seen more of the white stuff this *month* than in the last 12 years combined. And they're calling for more. I've heard rumors that we might get up to a foot.

OMGWTFBBQ!!!!

If they cancel school, I might just lose my mind. Like The Shining kind of "lose my mind."

Mother Nature, I don't know who pissed you off, but I apologize. I will plant a tree, pick up litter, do penance of some kind, but please remember that this is ALABAMA and we Don't. Do. Snow.

AARRRGGGGHHHH!!!!

~ahem~

I feel better now. Your turn. Pitch your big hairy fit. I might even give a book away to make you feel better....

My big hairy fit? It's about government regulations that are designed to fail, employees who either lie or simply don't know the regulations (neither is acceptable) and people who draw a paycheck but just don't seem to give a damn about serving their clients.

But bless their hearts, I've either been calling or emailing them daily and even filed a complaint with my US Senator about one.

I'll either end up on the Ten Most Wanted List or the "If You Know What's Good for You Don't Screw with Her" list.

My tantrum would be "Can't my family ever get everybody well at the same time." I was sick the whole month of December with one thing or the other. My grandkids have had stomach viruses, which they gave to me, and now my 5 year old granddaughter was running a 104.6 temperature this evening and my almost 2 year old is at the hospital and has tested positive for RSV. What a freaking nightmare. Especially since the almost 2 year old probably caught this crap AT ANOTHER HOSPITAL. It's a very contagious virus and she was around my 7 month old grandson yesterday so we can only hope he doesn't get it. So my rant is, GOOD HEALTH, WHERE ARE YOU?

I'm so with you on this, PM! My dad was a WWII veteran. The VA said that getting his benefits started (when he went into assisted living) was almost a rubber stamp.

A rubber stamp for what? Losing the paperwork? Again and again and again? Or how about this:
"It's all set except for this final form you need to fill out, but I don't know what it is."

The first payment finally arrived . . . the month after he died. And now they want it back. That's fine, no problem. But what about the back payments, which were supposed to arrive in a lump-sum before the monthly payments began? They never showed up. Seems we have to file all over again . . .

PC, hang in there. This is a La Nina year, and she always produces crazy weather.

I've got a DMV rant, here. I have finally received my title for my dead car (yes the car that died before Halloween.) I'm selling it Friday, at last. And I'm not even going to complain about the cost or the time. Just before Thanksgiving, I'd jumped through every hoop, paid every fee and handed over the paperwork to get a copy of my new Alabama title. 4-6 weeks they said. JANUARY 3rd, I found an email address online to ask them about that and my new plates, which still hadn't shown up and were about to expire. Apparently they'd mailed my plates to my neighbor in mid-November and I'd have to pay to get a replacement because they were never returned to sender. So I went across the street and for some ridiculous reason, my neighbors still had it. Just hanging onto it for some stupid reason. Whatever, I finally had it in hand.

Then the title people email me back and say oops, we have it, but it never got processed. Doing it now. A week later I email again to make sure it got processed this time. (And this is a common email multiple people can access apparently.) Person 1 responded and said it was processed before Christmas and if I haven't received it, I needed to go to the DMV and reply for a replacement copy. (GJ#&!JFH$#^%@SU!) I told her NO, I never received it, therefore I wasn't going to pay to replace it. She verified my address, and said, nope, sorry, gotta pay. Then another person got on, the one I'd spoke with the week before, and said it was being processed and I'd get it in 5-7 days, to which I said, WHICH IS IT? Then, a third person replied, the manager, I think, apologizing for the confusion and letting me know I should have it within the week. And I did. When I opened it, it had been processed in December like the first woman had said. But no one had mailed it. Sigh.

Once I sell the dumb thing, I've got to go back to the DMV, make sure they have the correct address on the new car (its correct on my registration paperwork), turn in my plates for the old car and get the balance of my registration transferred to the new one. Hopefully they won't recognize me from the hissy fit I threw at Thanksgiving.

And don't get me started on snow. I am tired of worrying about DB going into a ditch at 5AM trying to get to work. And I'm tired of people saying global warming (whether a man made or a natural occurence) is bunk because its so damn cold. People just spout what they hear on tv because they know absolutely nothing about how warming water impacts weather patterns. I'm an environmental science major, people. It took a 4 degree temperature shift to launch the planet into a mini ice age, kick off the Dark Ages and kill a 1/3rd of Europe with the plague. Tiny changes, just a degree up or down can completely mess with stuff. Including 10 inches of snow in the damn south. And they STILL had no snow shovels at Lowes!

Ok, I'm done. I'll leave my grandmother out of this rant so others get a chance.

Okay, I'm with you on the snow thing, enough already. But I'll make my rant snow-related instead of actually about the white stuff. Bread and milk. (Hmm. More white stuff!) Panic shopping because someone said the S word. When I hit the grocery store before the last big snow, the shoppers had gone into panic mode. I swear, you'd think they would never get the opportunity to shop for food again. This is it, folks, if you don't get that last loaf of bread you will NEVER EAT BREAD AGAIN. You'd think we were getting snowed in for the rest of the winter. Chill, people. - LJ

Government paperwork is enough to drive anyone to drink. Wasn't there some kind of paperwork reduction act that was supposed to make that kind of stuff simpler? Yeah, that didn't work so well...

Linda-- yikes. Definitely rant-worthy. And RSV is really scary. AC got it when she was 6 months old and it scared us to death. If the 7 mo-old looks even the tiniest bit puny, take him to the doc right away. If they catch it early, they can head off the worst of the breathing problems. ending healing vibes your way.

Maven Linda -- then La Nina is a real b*tch too...

And I knew I could count on SP, my personal ray of sunshine...

LJ, don't you know that snow keeps bread from rising, so dog only knows when you'll get more? And cows quit giving milk, TP factories close down...

I am so sick of snow myself. We have had snow on the ground since the first of Dec. I want some sunshine and warm tempts.

Well, I was going to complain about the inconvenience of having a child home sick from school and trying to get a sick appointment with a pediatrician the day before a possible "big snow", but after reading Linda Henderson's post, I've decided it isn't as bad as I thought. :)

I am not dealing with snow just cold wet weather.
I live on the Georgia Florida line and it has been freakin cold this year. Rarely do we wear coats but this year I keep one with me.

My rant is I tried some fancy (I'm talking Estee Lauger) night repair and it broke me out. I have a rash all over my face and throat. I have been living on Benadryl and smearing hydro-cortisone on the bumps for the past couple of days. I knew I should have stayed with my Oil of Olay micro sculpting cream.
I don't have anywhere to go so I will just stay hidden at home until the bumps get better.

My rant of the day has to do with my body rebeling against me. I have this mass on my kidney that could or couldn't be cancer but we are giving it time and seeing what happens. Then today my gyno calls me and tells me that after a year and a half of abnormal paps he wants to do another biopsy and possibly we may have to look at removing my cervix. I'm only 30 for god's sake!!!! So yeah, I'm having one of those mornings.

Maven Linda I am totally with you on the VA screwing people over. My hubby has been fighting with them for years now!

I'm with you on the snow. But reallly, it's the fact that it's screwed up with my entire school year calendar that has me irked. And that my school system closes at the drop of a hat...or a snowflake. Seriously, a single flake on the ground and we're screaming the sky is falling.

I just don't have enough vacation time to take off to stay home with my girls. I realize the school bus can't get through some phantom neighborhood in a remote corner of the county...I, however, can get to the school and my boss would appreciate it if I showed up for work. A couple days in January is all he's asking for. I really don't think that's too much to request.

I guess I'm an odd bird. I LOVE the snow. It slows everything and everyone. ;)

Oh, goodness. Lots of healing thoughts going out!

Gigi- sadly, more expensive doesn't mean better.

And Alina (hugs)

I see the anti-snow people are truly out in force.

And Kathy, don't come around here being all reasonable and calm. We're having hairy fits at the moment.

New rant - just got pulled to work on a proposal (read: horrific hours with zero compensation while they work you into the ground). Hoo-friggin-ray.

SNOW! I'm with you, and I live north of you. It's not the snow so much here as it is the ice! I hate black ice, I hate roads so full of potholes that they're swallowing whole cars...the worst is Semi-truck drivers who think they own the road and knock us cars all around and into ditches and then drive away as if nothing happened. Really bunches my knickers! that said...this was fun! :-)

See, Starfire, I told you you'd feel better!

Well, I have to add a postscript to my earlier rant. I had to go to the hospital Tuesday night because of a racing heart, find out my thyroid medicine is too high AND I'm diabetic now due to the use of a medication I've been on for my RA. So this means another doctor and who knows what. Also my granddaughter with the RSV will probably be admitted to the hospital today. So I'll just say one more time. GOOD HEALTH, WHERE ARE YOU?
