Are You a Perpetual Kid?

My husband, heaven bless him, is the light to my dark. I’m a pessimist; he’s an optimist. I’m obsessive; he’s laidback. I read, he plays video games. I’m serious; he’s funny.

Even when it comes to gifts. This Christmas he got me a couple of gifts from perpetualkid.com . I’m a huge CSI fan, so these were a big hit:

The kids got a big kick out of them too. He also bought me Blood Bath Body Wash, which is cherry-scented bath wash in a fake hospital blood bag and makes me chuckle every time I use it. The website (once he told me about it) had a huge array of funny gifts (depending on your sense of humor), including bloody shower curtain and bath mat, bacon-flavored floss, Bitch Slap Those Germs! Hand sanitizer, and a whole array of products featuring cupcakes (seems to be an obsession).

What’s the funniest gift you’ve ever gotten? Are you the funny one or the serious one? '

My girls would love those bandaids!

I've been watching too much NCIS. The first thing I thought of when you mentioned the blood shower curtain and bath mat was what would happen if a cop came in there and thought it was a really crime scene. :-)

I just keep thinking about how I had to wear a SpongeBob Squarepants band-aid to the Harlequin party in Atlanta because we'd used up all the other band-aids.

Surely, there was a gift shop in the hotel that sold band-aids...

I am usually the funny one but I do it mainly with cards. I search endlessly for a funny card that fits the person. If I see one which I know I will use later, I buy it and save it. My hubby seems to be a bit too serious about things so he never does anything humorous.

Insti -- haha! Yeah. I just kept thinking of the bloody shower curtain in Psycho.

These bandaids aren't unusual in this house, that's for sure. Currently, we also have Littlest Pets and SuperHeroes. :)

Cheryl, Whenever I try to find a funny card, I worry that I'm the only one that thinks they are funny. But the hubby gets great ones. Of course, almost all his cards are about sex...

After I told him how, as a child, I did surgery on my Gumby with a seam ripper, Ken brought me a Gumby and a seam ripper. We were dating at the time and it wasn't an occasion. I still have Gumby and he still has all his wires.

Blood Bath Body Wash? Oh dear, I think I'm going to vomit. I bet that website has fake vomit too.

I like to band-aids though. I bought theme ones when my boys were little, but it's just plain ones here now.

I, too, buy cards ahead of time when I see the perfect funny card for the occasion. I just have to remember that I have it.

I'm sure I've received lots of funny gifts; I just can't remember what they were. They're probably with the cards I've bought ahead of time. My son did give me a paperweight for Mother's Day that says "Because I Said So." His wife wasn't so sure about the purchase, but he told her, "Trust me." I *LOVE* it!

Funny about the paperweight, PM. LIke the sign we got PC that said, "Work With Me People"? :)

I guess I'm funnier. I never buy serious cards and sadly, if someone buys them for me, I skim the text so I don't get all emotional in front of people. I don't really buy gag kind of gifts, though. I work really hard to get people something they really want, so unless a bloody shower curtain is high on their list, I probably wouldn't get it. I am all for toys, though. I think everyone needs a Mr. Potato Head or things on their desk to give their brains a break.

I'm thinking maybe that SpongeBob bandaid was mine. Sorry, PC. I just get the clear ones now.

SP, if we'd gone to the ER and gotten it stitched, I probably wouldn't have gone through about 700 band-aids that week...

Yes, but we had an appointment. *snicker*

I'm would be a funny one. I'm one of 7 kids, you learn to lighten up. Funniest gift....a bubble machine year before last for my birthday. What fun I and my nephew had.

And by the way, heads up to Kimberly. I went this weekend to Brooks Bookstore and she passed along your bookmarker that you mailed her.
Many thanks.
