One of Those Weeks

This week has been absolutely crazy. It was already shortened by the holiday and as much as I loved having a day off to spend with the girls...sometimes you regret those vacation days. At least I do.

I won't go into details because frankly I don't want to scare anyone. Suffice it to say that the Playfriends have talked me down off several ledges this week. Nothing life threatening or earth shattering just more than I thought I could handle at one time.

However, on the bright side of things, I'm an aunt again. My newest niece was born on Tuesday at 12:55 PM. She's adorable and I can't wait to watch her grow up. Seeing her big sister holding baby for the first time reminded me so much of my own girls. Which reminds me how quickly Sweet Pea and Baby Girl are growing up.

I have not held the baby yet - my children are both sick and I didn't want to risk it - but I have a feeling those nostalgic moments will only get stronger when I do. If I start looking moonily at her will someone remind me that phase in my life is over? I really don't have time for another infant... Nevermind. I just thought of changing diapers and the moment passed.

On another bright note, I got a new release date. My next book - the sequel to Whispers in the Dark - will be coming out January 2011. I'm very excited to see Anne and Blake's story hit the shelves!

To celebrate the happiness this week (and to make me forget the bad stuff) I'm going to give a copy of Afterburn to one commenter today. Tell me if there's anything new and exciting going on in your life. Anything you're anticipating? Was your week a wreck? Heck, even tell me about your vacation plans...and whether or not you'll regret them when you get back to the real world.

Congrats on being an aunt again. Hope your children are feeling better. Nothing exciting going on here and I don't even have vacations plans at this point.

Huge congratulations on being an aunt again.

It's been one of those weeks for me as well. Massive amounts of writing...but none of it romance...it's been all the day job for the last 3 weeks! Aghhh. Caroline x

It's so nice to have a new baby in the family. Congratualations! I'm looking forward to my youngest's high school graduation this year but it's hard to believe that it's happening already. The time does go by fast.

Congratulations on the newest member of your family. I love being an aunt, all the fun none of the responsibility. :-)

I agree with you that sometimes vacation days are just not worth the extra work they create. I actually said that to someone yesterday, so I guess great minds are thinking alike this week. I took off Friday and then we were off Monday but I am so far behind I may never take a day off!

Verification word: purishie-isn't that someone who always says yes when asked to volunteer, you know, "Ask Susie to do the job, she is such a purishie."

Caroline, I'm right there with you. My day job has had me writing until after 9pm most nights. That's not good for my other writing this week, but next week will definitely be better. I'm looking forward to the light at the end of the tunnel. :) By the weekend I should be all good.

Um, trying to sell a house? And write a book?

That's pretty much making my head explode...

There is nothing nicer than a new baby. Worked as a health visitor in Scotland for seven years and it was like having a licence to get your hands on all the new babies - magic!
Booked the holiday for this year, a cruise in the Med to visit Pompeii and Tunisia and other parts of Italy. How am I going to pay for it? I have absolutely no idea....

Congratulations on the new addition to the family.
Like you the thought of changing diapers gets rid of that mooney baby feeling real quick.

This week has sucked royally.
Tuesday I had an infected wisdom tooth pulled. I just got into the car when my youngest daughter who is away at college called and told me her gum and face were swollen. She had her wisdom teeth surgically removed on the 4th of January. I have to track down her oral surgeon ,who I find out is about to leave on vacation in an hour. His office calls in an antibiotic and I have to make an unexpected trip to her college to take her the meds. Her face is swollen it looked like she has a golf ball in her cheek. I forgot to mention she also has type 1 diabetes.
The next day she comes back to town to see our regular dentist.
Today I went with my mom for a colonoscopy, this afternoon DH has a yearly physical.
Next week has to be better.

What is it with this new year?? Just this week I had food poisoning that was really horrible, my daughter is being sued (witchy landlord and honestly not her fault) and it got delayed for the 4th time - this time cause the judge got sent to the emergency room - this while she is trying to put herself through college and as a final disaster, one of my outside cats (feral/strays) that I have taken care of for almost 15 years passed away in this horrible cold spell that we're having :(

congrats on your new niece. I can't wait to hear some good news too :)

Congratulations on the newest baby in your family! It'll be awesome to hold your niece in your hands. ;)

Also, major congrats on the newest release. We'll be looking forward to it.

Kudos for the hard times this week. You know you're in my thoughts and prayers.

susanwilson44, I've been to Pompeii. There are no words! Truly spiritual, intense and amazingly beautiful. Wishing you a fantastic trip!!

Congrats on being an aunt again! So much fun to be able to spoil the nieces and then send them home to mom and dad.

I get to go have another mammogram tomorrow morning. I either have a cyst or a lump and the doctor wants another look. Not fun, but I do get to go to dinner with my friends tomorrow night. We are going to 55 South(one friend's new restaurant) and I can't wait to get together with my girls. My sister and her girls are coming in tomorrow night too. Taking 2 of the girls to see 101 Dalmations at TPAC on Saturday and then all of us are going to dinner with family. Should be a fun weekend.

No vacation plans yet, but I know I'm going to need a day off soon.

You know, as much as I wouldn't wish a hard time on anyone else, it's nice to know I'm not the only one having a rough start to the year. 2010 is supposed to be great...so I wanna know when's that gonna start? :-)

Here's hoping that for everyone who's had a great week it just gets better and for everyone who's had it rough, I hope your week improves. I'm trying to live by it can only get better cause it can't get worse...but I'm afraid to say that too loudly.

And thanks everyone for the well wishes on the baby. She's coming home this afternoon. :-)

Congratulations on the new niece. I'm going to be a grandmother again in June. We find out, hopefully, in less than two weeks what she is having. Other than that, not much going on. Thank goodness.

congrats on the niece's arrival; no news of any more grandkids as of now(we have 5).

I had a sore shoulder and around the area where I had my lumpectomy and lymph node removal and was told by my friend/neighbour that she wouldn't be able to massage me anymore. Then today she says she can(thank goodness). I feel better as of now.

Congrats again on the birth of your niece!
I've been in the US taking care of my brother for some months, so I've been needing a break. And the break comes in the form of a trip home to catch the 2010 Winter Olympics which will be happening in my hometown. I've been waiting 4 long years for this and expectations are high.
