Theater Thursday

Zilla and I have had a gift certificate for a movie and dinner for months now. We just can't seem to get a date night scheduled. Well, that's not quite true. We've had date nights in there but we usually bail on the movie. For one thing, it's hard for us to agree on one that we'd both like to see. For another, we're both home bodies and most often just decide that staying in is a better option. Friday night we even had a babysitter lined up...I ended up working instead. Don't get me wrong, we took advantage of the child free hours. However, what we didn't do is go to a movie. And this gift certificate expires at the end of the month.

We've both agreed - and have babysitters already lined up - that we're going to see Sherlock Holmes the day after Christmas. I have to admit, it looks pretty damn good.

There are actually lots of good movies coming out this month...just not ones Zilla and I would both go see. I'm interested in: The Lovely Bones, The Princess and the Frog, The Young Victoria, Did You Hear About the Morgans, Nine (although if it turns out to be anything close to Moulin Rouge I will walk out of the theater), and Alvin and the Chipmunks: The Squeakquel (the girls loved the first one!). I still want to see Blind Side, The Men Who Stare at Goats and possibly the Brothers although that one looks pretty intense.

Are there any movies you're looking forward to seeing? Any that you'd recommend?

I'm really looking forward to "The Lovely Bones" It's a book by Alice Sebold and I'm listening to it in my car now :) So far, REALLY GOOD! Very different from what I'm used to, but the language is gorgeous and the story immerses you. I hope to see the movie...and I've heard pretty great things about "Blind Side" so I may try to see that as well. :)

Sherlock does look great doesn't it? You can't beat Robert Downey Jr!

I really want to see Sherlock Holmes, and I still need to take my granddaughter to see New Moon. We're usually content to wait for netflix, but now and then I want to see a movie in the theater.

I really want to see Sherlock Holmes in the theater. I usually can wait for movies to be released on dvd to see them. Still want to see The Blind Side and would love to see The Princess and the Frog.

I want to go see Sherlock Holmes, too. I'm not sure if DB will want to go, but I MUST see it!

I'm not really interested in anything else, though. Just that one. I've loved RDJ since the 80s and stuck with him through all his stints in rehab and jail. I'm excited to see him doing well.

Sherlock looks pretty good to me too.

#2 son and I tried to see The Blind Side at Thanksgiving and the shows were all sold out. So we decided to try again at Christmas if it's still in the theaters.

We don't go to the movies and we only read every now and then. So I don't keep up with movies and such!

We're homebodies too, so we wait until the movies come out on one of the movie channels. That way we can watch it in the comfort of our own home. Now if they would let me hold the movie control thingy, I'd be happy. Then I could pause the movie when I had to go potty or back it up when I couldn't quite catch what they said the first time. Uhm, sounds like a control issue. Oh well. :D
Sherlock Holmes does sound great and I'm so happy to see RDJ doing well again.

Both look to be good movies.

I really enjoyed "Blind Side." Even if you don't like football, it's a great, heart warming story.

If you are from the South and understand SEC rivalry, you'll enjoy the college recruiting segment.

Right now, I'm looking forward to Netflix delivering "Julie & Julia."

Oh, just for the record, the Body Farm at UT is not located in Neyland Stadium.

There's 3 - Sherlock, Blind Side and The Lovely Bones - I read that last one and am curious about the movie - the book was very good. We usually see at least one movie on New Year's Eve (sometimes 2 or 3 lol) so I think Sherlock will be on that list. We go with a group of friends and family. Some of them actually start out in the morning and watch 4 or 5 movies. 3 is the most I've ever done lol.

Oh I forgot to mention Avatar - definitely want to see that one on the big screen!

People go places to watch movies? All the movies I watch are from the comfort and safety of my bed. Yay, Netflix!

JJ -- a movie has put the Body Farm at Neyland? Do these people know what the Body Farm is? How bad Neyland would smell? Maybe the confusion comes from the fact that the Anthropology Dept is (or was in the 90s at least) housed in the old athletic dorms which are under the stands at Neyland.

Oh yeah, Sherlock certainly, and I want to take the youngest to The Blind Side -- he loves any sports related/heartstring movie. I'll be taking the granddaughter to The Princess and the Frog.

I used to go to movies all the time...I really miss it.

PC,
The main character in the movie is afraid of scary things. His tutor is an Ol Miss fan and tells him there are body parts buried in the stadium and that hands can come up out of the ground. (I was the only one in the theater laughing.)

I'm not sure, but I don't think the SEC would not approve of that recruitment method. :-)

It's a great movie with funny lines that make me happy to be from the South. Tim McGraw has one of the funnies lines in the movie.

Hmm...I'd think players would trip if there were decomposing bodies lying around the stadium. :)

I saw Julie & Julia at the theater and Meryl Streep's performance was worth the price of admission. It's a fabulous movie!

I am looking forward to the George Clooney Movie and Meryl Streep movies coming out Christmas.

I Loved The Blindside but did not like the DiNiro movie - too depressing.
