Guest Blog - Lisa Renee Jones

I'm very excited to welcome Lisa Renee Jones to the Playground today! Not only is she a fantastic writer, she's also so generous with her time and experience. She writes for Blaze, Nocturne and will soon debut with Grand Central. This girl has a ton of irons in the fire! But she's got the talent and energy to handle them all. Please give her a warm Playground welcome.

Waving to everyone this holiday season! It’s exciting for me to see 2010 coming because I debut my new Faith Winter name in August 2010 with a new paranormal series called ‘The Renegades’ with Grand Central Forever. (Think hot super soldiers created from a government experiment at Area 51). I end the year with a fun contemporary Santa Baby from Blaze. I love this story and I think that’s because the heroine in Santa Baby has my kind of bad luck -- and still she manages to find her way to a rich hunk of a man! :)

Speaking of men – I had a wonderful Turkey day with my man. We saw two movies. Yes two! I have to say though that I thought the Thanksgiving weekend choices for movies were slim picking. We saw New Moon, of course. We went to the matinee on Thanksgiving and shared the theater with about 7 other people. It was perfect! No crowd. I liked the movie well enough. It had great werewolf and vampire special effects but too much Bella crying/nightmares and too little plot. The parts I liked though, I really liked. Then, we saw The Road. Viggo Mortesen. Need I say more? He had lost tons of weight for this movie which was sad and emotional. It was not a happy movie but it was a movie that speaks to the soul and makes you think. Viggo showed the exceptional actor he is.

Here is a link to the trailer: http://www.moviefone.com/movie/the-road/32581/main?flv=1

There are so many movies coming up I cannot wait to see!

The Book of Eli! Denzel! This looks sooo good! http://www.apple.com/trailer/wb/thebookofeli/

The Tooth Fairy! http://www.moviefone.com/movie/the-tooth-fairy/34807/video/tooth-fairy-trailer-no-1/44593788001

Yes I know! Night and day, but they both look amazing.

So I have books to give away! I’m a movie fanatic. Tell me what movies you’ve seen recently, or movies you’re looking forward to, so I won’t risk missing anything good.

Two prizes drawn from comments:
*A set of my Blaze releases to date: Hard and Fast, Santa Baby, and Lonestar Surrender
*A copy of Awakening the Beast, Captive of the Beast, and Beast of Darkness

And don't forget to visit Lisa at her website http://www.lisareneejones.com where you can find out more about her upcoming releases.

Welcome Lisa! We're glad to have you here on the Playground.

My son and I tried to see The Blind Side last Saturday but all the afternoon shows were sold out. I've heard it's incredible and we're going to try to see it when he's home for Christmas.

I watched an older movie on TV over the weekend -- Tyler Perry's Diary of a Mad Black Woman. The parts with Madea were pure buffoonery (is that a word?) but the rest was powerful. I loved watching the heroine grow through the movie.

Happy Release Day, Lisa. I haven't been to the movies in a while, but I'm really looking forward to "Avatar," "Shutter Island" and "Nine."

I'm looking forward to AVATAR, and SHERLOCK HOLMES (our current Christmas Day movie pick). I love reading BLAZE books and Paranormals!

Happy Holidays.

Good luck with the 2010 launch, Lisa. Santa Baby sounds great, it’s on my TBR list.
I’ve just seen New Moon, and I agree with you. And like the first movie, I felt the film didn’t quite live up to the books.
I’m looking forward to seeing 2010 at the weekend and Disney’s, A Christmas Carol a bit closer to Christmas. Avatar looks really good, definitely one for the big screen. And then there’s Sherlock Holmes. In Britain we get a lot of TV movies and plays about Sherlock Holmes, so I’m not that excited about seeing yet another adaptation on the famous sleuth…but it does have the yummy Robert Downey Jr and the equally yummy Jude Law playing the main characters… I guess I’ll have to go and see it after all, just to ogle them side by side… Oh, it’s nice being a girl sometimes :-)

Welcome to the Playground, Lisa! How exciting this new upcoming adventure must be for you! What is the biggest challenge you see in launching a new pen name? (Those hunky guys sound GREAT, btw!)

I want to see the Blind Side and Brothers (though I know that will end very badly). Other than that, I'm not sure what is coming up. I usually don't, unless I go to the movies and see the previews. :)

Hey Lisa! I saw New Moon on the release day and really loved it. Still hoping to see The Blind Side soon, and I can't wait for Sherlock Holmes on Christmas day. If only I was going to be in a town with a movie theater. I am taking my youngest niece to see The Princess and the Frog next weekend and it should be fun.

I usually wait for movies to come out on DVD but Avatar does look like a good one.

Welcome to the Playground, Lisa! We're happy to have you visit today.

I want to see Blind Side and am try to convince Zilla to take me this weekend cold or no cold. We have free tickets that expire the end of this month and I just know if we don't go this weekend we won't make it.

Another one I want to see is The Men Who Stare at Goats for obvious reasons. Zilla refuses to see that one. I just don't understand why. Sure, goats die in the film but it's supposed to be hilarious.

Welcome, Lisa! We're glad to have you visit today.

The last movie I saw was New Moon. I think they did a much better job this time than they did with the first one. Of course, they had more money. DB wants to see it, so I may go again at some point.

But I'm really looking forward to seeing Sherlock Holmes. I love RDJ and I used to watch the old SH shows on PBS. That guy was never as sexy as RDJ, so maybe it will be the best of both worlds.

Sherlock Holmes! How could I forget that one. I love Downy and he was so underrated for s long!

Angel-- pen name. It's like starting over -- letting my readers know that I am Faith. But its a fun way to launch a series. A whole new everything. I hope it will be lucky. I picked 'Faith' because that was what it took to finally get that big single title release)

I haven't seen any movies lately, the last one I saw in the theater was Julie & Julia. I am looking forward to seeing Sherlock Holmes, the trailer is great though I never would have imagined Jude Law as Watson.

Good luck with the new series! I love paranormals so I'm really looking forward to reading them. And the Santa Baby cover is great.

Great post and I love the cover. So here are some that look interesting to me:

Invictus: http://invictusmovie.warnerbros.com/ with Matt Damon and Morgan Freeman

Everybody’s Fine with Robert DeNiro: http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi3512402457/

Just say the trailer for this on a recent TV talk show with Meg Ryan and I died laughing as he had Timothy Hutton duck taped to a toilet. http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi1599341849/

The Blind Side with Sandra Bullock http://www.imdb.com/video/imdb/vi2724005145/

Brother’s I’m sure will win awards but it looks very intense. Maybe Precious after the holidays because it’s a tear jerker.

The Men Who Stare at Goats looks very interesting by the preview on TV;

I'm really looking forward to Mrs. Miracle by Debbie Macomber this weekend on TV.

I just re-watched Underworld & Underworld Evolution as well as the Blade trilogy. LOVE THEM!

I recently watched G.I. Joe and was hugely disappointed with it. On the other hand, the new Star Trek movie blew me away...I've never really been a Trek fan but wow! this movie was really well done.

Sorry, haven't seen any new movies lately as I live far away from movie theaters. Well, this you probably haven't seen, although it's not new. You can download it -legally- for free: http://www.starwreck.com/ You just have to admire the guys who did this parody with such a small amount of money.

Hi Lisa, I have friends who saw Blindside and said it was very good..you laugh and cry but in all.it was a decent movie. My hubby and I want to go now so maybe we can find time this week yet. I just love your books and Santa Baby is so good. I read it and passed it to friends to read. A group of us share books we buy as we all are retired and on a tight budget. I love to enter contests to help with my book reading habit. ha ha Take care. susan L.

Hi Lisa,
The last movies I saw were
2012 which was a good movie, lots of action and the special effects were awesome. Don't know if I believe all the end of the world stuff according to the Myans though. I guess we shall see on Dec. 21st of 2012. At least I may have one more birthday, it is the 20th of dec. LOL
Transformers - Revenge of the Fallen. This was a cute movie.
My sons were all involved in the
cartoon when they were young. Is that dating me? LOL
Ice Age - Dawn of the Dinosaur.
My granddaughter just loves the show and we have watched the dvd every day since it was released to the stores. Sometimes several times a day.

I rented The Proposal with Sandra Bullock a couple of weeks ago and the new Star Trek movie, both movies were really good! These are the only ones I have seen lately!

I just went to see Fantastic Mr. Fox with my boyfriend the other day, and it was awesome. We've started using the word "cuss" to replace our usual, cruder, language, which is amusing (you have to see the movie to understand the reference, but that's okay -it's worth it!).

I'm really looking forward to seeing The Lovely Bones, too.

I'm not much of a movie watcher. The last movie I saw in the theatre was King Kong! I would much rather curl up with a good book.

I'm not much of a movie watcher, but we are looking forward to seeing Fantastic Mr. Fox--the kids are reading the book in anticipation :) And the Sherlock Holmes movie does look intriguing (plus there's Jude Law and Robert Downey Jr....) :) Hope you're enjoying the season, Lisa! Congrats on Santa Baby!

I've seen a lot of movies while staying with my brother. He has one of those cable deals, 1000 channels. I've seen bits and pieces of movies, so that I end up needing to see it again to catch the part I missed. Atonement was one such movie, I still need to see the first half of it. Warning it does not have a happily ever after ending!
