Chocolate and Cheese

Last night the Playfriends and honorary Playfriend Lynn Raye Harris took an evening off to indulge in cheese and chocolate at the Melting Pot. They were having a Breast Cancer Awareness Ladies Night special and we couldn't pass up the opportunity to indulge and support this great cause at the same time.

This is a rare indulgence for me, being able to disappear during the week - on a school night no less. And while part of me felt very guilty for neglecting not only Zilla (who happens to be sick) and the girls but also my almost finished WIP, I managed to suffer through that guilt. Cheese and chocolate - not to mention good friends - will do that for you.

The Melting Pot has recently become our go to place for celebrations, commiserations and just escapes. I love it. It's messy. It's yummy. It allows for the potential of licking chocolate off of copious things. It's become a ritual for us.

Do you have a go to restaurant? Where's your favorite place to eat? Or do you have a favorite type of cuisine?

I don't have a favorite restaurant here, but I do love Bridge Street. We were there last night. DH and I like to go to the SCENE IT lounge and eat appies while people watching. We were excited to discover the Happy Hour prices there last night (only 3 dollars for a glass of win? Be still my heart).

I'll have to check out MP--But I prefer Swiss Raclette done the Dutch Gourmet Way. Thus I have a Raclette at home and we often indulge in that form of eating.

Chocolate and Cheese are great guilt reducers.

I love Melting Pot, even if a full dinner takes forever to eat.

A cheese and chocolate stop, though, is perfect. Yummy, yummy yummy.

The cheese we ordered last night was so fabulous, I may have to take DG and AC back for one.

I love MP. Can't go wrong with chocolate, cheese and champagne. Hey - the 3 C's of ladies' night!

That WAS fun, wasn't it? And I agree with PC that the cheese we ordered was to die for.

I like German food too and Cafe Berlin is a fave of mine. And when I visit my mom and sister at the coast, I always, always, always have to eat their wonderful local shrimp. Yum!

I've never been to The Melting Pot. When we eat out we usually have Italian, Japanese or Korean food.

Just the thought of the crab stew at The Crab Trap on St. Simons Island always sets my taste buds tingling. PM likes their shrimp and battered fries -- so we both have happy tummies.

I cook A LOT so anyplace they don't ask me to prepare it gets me excited. Gosh, even the drive thru at Micky D's will have me grinning like a jackass. :D
But seriously, I like to cook. It's the cleaning up part that sucks.
The MP sounds great and having good friends to share the experience with makes it all the better.

It was fun! I only wish I'd paced myself better with the cheese, because when the chocolate arrived, I got full way too quickly. :/

I agree, Sherry. I actually enjoy cooking although I don't get to do it often. But if I know I'm gonna be the one cleaning the kitchen then I just avoid it. Cooking isn't worth the cleaning. Ever.

Agreed, I enjoy cooking but since moving, most nights I eat at my sister's home. But if we are going out, we either eat Chinese, Mexican or Logan's.

My daughter went there for their first anniversary and loved it. I like most restaurants - anytime it's not me cooking although I really don't mind cooking a lot of the time. For special we try to find a place that serves escargot (I know lol).

I LOVE escargot fixed with garlic butter. I had it the first time at a little bistro in Paris. Ah... memories.
