Happy Birthday!!!!

This week holds a special place in the Playfriend’s hearts—it marks the 3rd anniversary of our website and blog. That’s right! For 3 years we’ve been sharing our tales of writing, disappointments, celebrations, and our lives. To our amazement, you continue to tune in to talk with us and our special guests.

This week we’ll be celebrating with lots of blog giveaways and a big birthday party on Friday. We enjoy giving back to our readers. We’ll also spend time each day talking about what we’ve learned since we started this endeavor and our most memorable moments along the way.

For me, it has to be the first time someone came up to me and said, “Aren’t you Angel from the Writing Playground?” To be recognized is such an awesome experience. That it happened in front of my sister—priceless! Thank you, Liza.

One beautiful thing that I’ve gained, especially through the blogging, is confidence. Over the past 3 years, I’ve been encouraged (read: pushed) to approach authors and publishing professionals to appear on the website and blog. A few said no, even more said yes. Also, tending to be a shy person, I used to limit myself to sharing only with those closest to me. On the blog, I’ve discussed just about every emotion and experience that’s come my way through this crazy thing called writing, only to find out… I’m not alone. To talk about issues and problems with the Playfriends and our Readers, share ideas, tips, and ogle cute guys… That’s been an eye-opening and endearing experience.

Thank you for that!

What has been the biggest confidence booster in your life?

Angel

P.S. One commenter will be selected for an Angel prize pack! And don’t forget to keep an eye on our NaNo progress meters.

Happy Birthday. My parents are my biggest confidence booster. They're always there when I need to support regarding my personal life or my career. They're also not going to sugarcoat everything or say what I want to hear.

Wow, 3 years! Congrats!

As for confidence boosters it comes from a variety of sources:
My family, my friends, and moments of serendipity.....

And lets face it a good laugh keeps you going when you want to just stop.

Here's to everyone that gives a smile in the face of disaster!

Again Happy Bithday Play friends!

Yay! It's our birthday week!

I read somewhere where another writer had a friend tell her "Have confidence and faith in yourself, and when you lose that, borrow the faith we have in you." I really like that. When I lose heart, I lean on the confidence and faith others have in me to get me through. That's what friends and family are for.

PC, I really like that quote. And it's so true for me...especially in the last week or so. I'm not sure I could have made it through without y'all. Zilla, my girls and you guys are what get me through and keep me going.

Wow, 3 yrs. I've been blogging that long too. Can't believe it, really!

Biggest confidence boosters? As a writer, being a part of a fabulous chapter like HOD. The networking and drive to succeed have made a difference for me. And you know what else, honestly? Age. The older I get, the less worried I am about what others think. It's not that I don't worry about it at all, but I'm less likely to sweat the small stuff. :)

Without doubt, the Playfriends have been like solid rocket boosters for me. And while I've been participating in NaNoWriMo, my sister has been my biggest fan. She asks me daily about my word count, has read my chapters and made comments and some great suggestions (which I print and file and will add later), helped me with Atlanta geography since her son went to college there and she's pretty familiar with the area and is going to help me with a plot point about inheriting a business as soon as I post this comment and call her.

Has it really been 3 years? Time sure does fly when you're having fun. :-)

I have to say I almost listed that as one of my best moments, too. I live under the impression that no one knows or cares who I am. When someone recognizes me and goes to the trouble of saying as much, I'm just stunned.

I have to say most of the people are supportive, but its in a "that's nice dear" sort of way. Happy that I'm doing something that makes me happy. Too afraid to encourage me too much for the fall out if I fail.

The Playfriends and HOD are my exception. They don't have a doubt in the world that I can do whatever I put my mind to. Like PC said, sometimes I have to borrow that faith to keep myself on track.

I love my people. ( :: world peace :: )

Happy birthday! Thanks to all of you for sharing your great blog.

My daughter and my friends are my biggest confidence boosters. And I must not forget me. Pep talks to myself are an essential part of the process.

Happy Birthday! I will have to say I have always been a shy person. I think just getting out and going to work helped me alot. I am not quite as shy as I once was. I will talk to strangers now where I wouldn't before.

My family, especially my sisters, are my biggest confidence boosters. Telling me like it is, either good or bad, an atta girl when I need it most, and most especially the love and laughter that grounds me so well.

WOOHOO! Happy Birthday Writing Playground! I have enjoyed reading your blog over the years! Where did you guys put the Cabana boys? I missed them when I came in the front door. Oh and are you going to make your world famous martini's and margarita's? I enjoyed them last time very much!

My biggest confidence booster is my husband. I went to college for a BS in Construction and he helped me all the way. I couldn't have done it without him! He is such a sweetie and a handsome Italian too! No touching, he is all mine ladies!

Have a fantastic, fun week celebrating!

Wow! What awesome responses. Isn't it incredible the importance other people play in the growth of our confidence in ourselves. I agree with Terry S too, many times it is what I tell myself that allows my confidence to flourish or flounder.

Thanks, everyone!

Happy Blogaversary! My biggest confidence booster was getting my bachelor's degree in nursing. It was hard going to school, working full time and being a single mom - but I did it. And that made me feel so good about myself.
