Boring

My life is so boring at the moment. Sure, Baby Girl is having nightmares and has slept in my bed for the last 2 months. And Sweet Pea just had her parent/teacher conference (she's acing every subject). But for the most part nothing's going on. Of course, my lethargy might also be contributed to the fact that I'm losing sleep because of Baby Girl...

I think maybe that's one of the reasons I love to read and write fiction. In fiction the characters are always experiencing drama. The playfriends will tell you that I love me some angst. My childhood was rather dull. I won't say that I was never upset - about a girl who was mean to me or losing my grandparents. But nothing compared to some of the things my characters go through. Sure those experiences tend to screw up their lives but they also make for some good reading :-).

Now, I don't mean that I'd ever want to experience losing a child, being abused or raped or any of the other heart wrenching situations that can build into interesting characters. I'm sure deep down I have my own emotional issues that I probably should deal with. I think it's more the roller coaster of emotions that pull me into a story. I just don't have time for that in my real life but in a few hours reading a book I can go on that journey with the characters and we can all come out the other side happy.

So, since my life is so boring at the moment, I'd like to spice it up. What better way than giving something away? Comment today, tell me either how boring or how exciting your life is, and I'll enter you to win a prize from my book stash.

P.S. Congratulations to Smarty Pants for winning the Writing Challenge!!!
And Congratulations to Problem Child for getting so much accomplished on your book. We're very proud of both of you ladies for busing your butts these last few weeks.

Instigator, I can't imagine that your life is boring! You live on a farm and have two daughters. It can't be boring. :-)

No kidding! I'm with Rhonda! Just remember, your kids can lead a farm animal into the house, and that's not at all boring. ;) (See my tale from a few days ago...)

My life isn't boring these days at all. I am loving every minute of it! Tonight, for instance, we're meeting my parents for dinner and then going to see a Bluegrass band at the Princess theater. It might end up like an evening with the Clampetts, but hey, I'm willing to try just about anything once (e.g. my NASCAR experience a couple of weeks ago).

And who could forget we have a retreat next weekend?! THAT has to be exciting. I get to dress up as a man for pete's sake. :)

Now, on the boring side, I haven't left the house in days. I've been working on my WIP. It's not that my interior world isn't exciting, but then I come out of the fog and realize that I'm still at home. Looking at the same walls and wondering, once again, what on earth I'll cook for dinner. :)

Mega congrats to SP and PC! Though SP is the official winner, I'd say you've both won in that you got all those words done. :)

Instigator, I think you need a quick getaway. Sounds as if you're in a bit of a rut.

My life is usually pretty boring. That's why I travel so much. Before the playfriends it was downright bland. There's comfort in a lack of drama, though. I'd rather my drama come from books and film any day.

There could never be a book about my life up until this point...too boring. But since March, it has been nonstop. Next week I leave for K-Con, Sherrilyn Kenyon's fan convention in New Orleans. I've never been there and I'm so excited that I'm already packed.

Congrats on the contest. You are truly both winners.

Life here isn't boring right now. I'm planning for the Playfriends' cook-out this weekend (after I send the DH off on a business trip with a visit to his mom on the front side of the trip), the retreat next weekend (I get to dress as a man too)and I'm going on a short cruise with my sister the week after the retreat.

I HAVE left my house -- nearly every day -- and consequently little writing has been done.

I thought life was going to get simpler when the kids left home. Ha!

Congratulations, SP and PC for taking the challenge all the way to THE END!

Instigator, once you get some sleep you'll be able to see that you have a very exciting life! Your book's getting published (Yeah!), your kids are happy and healthy, time you spend with your wee one builds a bond no one can undo, you've got tons of animals to care for, a job to go to everyday, and a loving husband willing to help take care of all of you. Wow! There's a lot going on at your house and a lot to be thankful for!

Life is boring but hectic at my place. I made a vow not to complain, per the playfriends edict, about the Concession Stand I'm in charge of and I haven't (See? Lips clamped!), I go to physical therapy twice a week and hurt the rest of it, I have chores to do, errands to run, responsibilities at church, the list goes on. I won't bore you. I'm trying to write and I'm also trying to figure out how to play a man at the retreat. A mighty BIG man too. So little time and often so little motivation.

I often wonder with my upbringing how I can convey the hardships characters need to go through when I craft stories. Sometimes, like you Instigator, I worry that I won't dig deep enough. Then I remember that we've all had friends, relatives, or have seen people go through horrible things. By observing, care-giving, we have the ability to learn and mold our stories into digestable fare.

So Instigator you're not boring at all. You're just digging deeper to find hidden treasure.

PM--You may have thought life would be more simple after your kids left home, but you didn't plan on acquiring four more to monitor...

Congrats on the challenge to you both!

I'm thinking it's more my mood than what's actually happening. I can get in a funk then everything seems boring. If I'm in a better mood even the little things seem exciting.

I'm bored out of my mind today. Oh, and only 2 hours, 10 minutes until I can go home. If I can with the tornado and severe storm warnings. Sigh...

Kira Sinclair - AKA Instigator said...

I'm not bored. I'm reading a really good book. :-)

And the storm with confirmed tornadoes is headed directly for Moulton in the next hour which means it'll probably hit close to my house as well. They never list us but we're close. Let's hope it weakens before it gets there because right at the time it should hit I'll be heading to the eye doctor and DH is heading to meet me at mom's house.

Congrats to SP and PC!! That's just fabulous!

Boring? Occasionally. Hectic? Absolutely!

I've an 18 year old PITA son, a DH who's working way too much, and a 53 students who are at risk kids. Definitely hectic. At times i can't decide if i want to scream, cry or run away.

I'm so happy that we have off tomorrow. Everyone was talking about how they were sleeping in till ten or eleven. Not me. I'll be up early because of all the leftover chores i want done before school on Monday.

I didn't bring home any school work. This weekend is for me. Writing, playing, getting my hair cut, shopping for shoes, me..me..me!!!

Storm warnings? Tornadoes? Oh dear. I haven't been listening to the radio or watching TV so this is news to me. Better turn on the television and find out what's happening.

This is NOT the way to turn a boring life around.

hmmm..I think my life is exciting on weekends and boring during the week. My week consists of going to work, coming home and opening mail, reading email, taking a walk, eating dinner and going to bed. Then it starts all over again. I don't know that I'd say my weekends are exciting, but I'm free to do what ever I want. lol

Congrats SP and PC. I'd say you both are winners! Not much going on in my life right now. Did have a very promising job interview today (or atleast I thought so). My son's bday is Sunday. So, I get to have all the family over (which means I really have to clean house).
