For the First Time...

Photobucket

I’ve been through some pretty exciting “firsts” in my life: my first kiss, my first (and only!) wedding, buying our first house, the birth of our first child…

Firsts have a very distinctive place in our lives. They create strong memories filled with emotion, something I love as a writer. If we’re lucky, they are good emotions that enrich our relationships, encourage us to push forward, and root us in our lives and beliefs.

There have been many writing firsts for me too, experiences that have spurred on my drive to create, including finishing my first book, finalling in my first contest, making my first sale. And now…

MY FIRST OFFICIAL E-BOOK RELEASE!!!

(yep, that’s my first official cover too!)

Today, I’d love to celebrate all your wonderful firsts together! Tell me your favorite “first” memory! One commenter will win a Release Day goodie pack: Fall Festival Candle, Godiva chocolate caramel gems, and a $5 Amazon gift card.

In Snow Bound, heroine Tori Anderson has her own set of “firsts”, especially as hero Damon West sets out to fulfill some long-held fantasies. If you enjoy sexy heroes, southern heroines, unexpected stalkers, and close quarters with no way out, this novella will spice up your night!
Now available on Amazon. Coming soon to Smashwords and Barnes & Noble.
Keep up with author Dani Wade on her weekly blog: www.DaniWade.com

If you'd like to find out more about the inspiration behind hottie hero Damon West, he's showcased in today's Friday Feature Foto on The Mutual Admiration Society's blog.

Congrats on the release! I can only imagine how excited you must be.

My favorite first? As much as I love my children, I honestly think the first time I held my grandchildren (and the most recent one was born yesterday!) is my favorite. There's something about knowing the family line goes on that makes it special, not to mention sweet baby skin and tiny little fingers and toes.

You didn't ask for it but I can tell you the worst first -- first visit to the divorce attorney.

Snowbound is out? Heading over to Amazon to get it.

I'm blanking on a favorite first but I wanted to congratulate you on your release.

Greetings from one of your MCRW pals and congratulations on the release (wow, can THAT statement ever be misinterpreted by romance writers, LOL)!

I still remember the first time I saw the ocean. It was during an extended family vacation at Myrtle Beach in South Carolina and I was probably 3 1/2 years old or thereabouts.

After hopping out of the car and running at Mach speed to the beach, I stopped dead in my little tracks when I saw the sea. I just stood very still, holding my cousin's hand, and was overwhelmed by how HUGE it was. Some moments are pure magic, and this was one for me.

Since then I've had the pleasure of revisiting that magical moment as my kiddos discovered the ocean and learned to love it. Ocean magic - definitely my favorite first!

Best wishes and congratulations!

Ah, PM, that soft skin and quiet breathing are a little bit of heaven! Except when they're crying. :) Give that grandbaby (and grandgirl) lots of cuddles while you're there. And tell the proud parents how much we are thinking of them!

Ooh, boy! Get it while it's hot! ;)

Since my wedding came just six months after Angel's, it didn't seem like that big a leap. Moving away from my family for the first (and only) time was difficult. But I think the biggest first for me, the one that had my heart in my throat and sweat building on my palms, but also the greatest overall satisfaction, was writing my first book. Scary as all get-out, a life changer of epic proportions, but also the opening of a wonderful world of enjoyment and accomplishment.

Congrats on your accomplishment, Angel. I'm so proud of you!!!

Yep, Cheryl! Its been a scary, exciting process with lots of "firsts" for me. Luckily, I had a great cover artist, line editor, and formatter to help me, along with lots of advice from fellow authors to get me through the confusing parts.

Thanks for your congrats! The best part of all of this has been sharing the fun with friends.

Thanks for dropping by, Dana! I'm glad I'm not the only one with a dirty mind. :P Every time I've written that today I've paused -- because my mind really does live in the gutter, even if my nickname is Angel!

How incredible that you can remember something from such a young age! It had a wonderful impact on you, I can tell. Having grown up in Florida, I tend to take the ocean forgranted. But reliving it through our children IS magical! Even though neither of my kids wanted in the water, they would stare at it in awe. (Now sand, THAT they loved!)

Glad to see you here!

Thanks, Ella! Remember that wonderful line editor I mentioned? Yep, this is her!

I vividly remember the moment I first told my husband that I wanted to write a book. We were in the hot tub. :) It was the only way we could get a conversation at the time, because we had a very young child who didn't sleep as much as I would like.

My heart pounded in my chest and my stomach rolled. I basically had to spit the words out. Like with most things, he was like, "Okay." Okay? I wonder now if he would have been so casual if he'd known what was on the horizon. :)

I think the first time I saw the Statue of Liberty was a wonderfull memory that I have. Just seeing it in photos is not as awesome as seeing it up close. I did not get to go inside of it. I understand it has re-opened. Every American should visit it.

Congratulations on your release! The cover is amazing and the plot sounds great. :)

Favorite first? Well that would be my first (and currently, only) son. Who's in my lap now and wishing you huge success in his personal baby talk.

Good luck with your new release! My favorite first writing-wise was reading reviews and thinking wow, they liked it...:)

Awwww, thanks, Stephanie! Isn't cuddling in your pj's under a warm blanket the best?

Sorry for the delay in getting back online! My Little Man was sick and we spent the afternoon in the doctor's office. Return of the STREP THROAT!!! Ugh!

Joye, welcome back! I only got to see the Statue of Liberty from across the water when I went to NYC. It was closed when I was there. :( So I can only imagine what it must be like up close. Lucky you!!! Thanks for dropping by today.

Musing Sallie, I've read many a book with a child curled up in my lap. As a matter of fact, I had to figure out how to hold a book in 1 hand while nursing because both my children nursed for almost 40 minutes at a time for months! But those are some of my fondest memories of their baby months spent in the rocking chair. Now my kids are too big to fit in my lap. :( But we still cuddle sometimes! Give him a big kiss from me!

Hope you enjoy Snow Bound!
