I used to always have a book in my hand but now its more like having a pile of books by my bed that I can't find time to read. I do get to a point though where I just have to stop writing and start reading for a little while. I say it's part of refilling the well. And I also can't read Blazes while I'm writing one which means I'm way, way, way behind.

InstigatorKira Sinclair - AKA Instigatorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/14274056066229852126noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-36116117318714694252008-08-27T11:57:00.000-05:002008-08-27T11:57:00.000-05:00I like Dickens, too.I like Dickens, too.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-84994658779541741352008-08-27T11:21:00.000-05:002008-08-27T11:21:00.000-05:00We are some nutty parents because I, too, have pro...We are some nutty parents because I, too, have promised Girl to read a book she HATED but was required to read this summer -- Ender's Game by Orson Scott Card. I went to my teacher and complained to her that the entire first chapter is about some stupid carriage going up a hill and it was a waste of my time.

I'm reading "Whispers in the Dark" right now. I'm managing a chapter every other night, which is pathetic, but its more than I've read in a long time. Most things I read are electronic anymore and I get to submit comments on it. :)

I still haven't finished book 7 of Harry Potter yet. Know what really astounds me? 100 years ago when I was a senior and had to read things like "The Seafarer", "The Wanderer", "Beowulf", and the other dry, British, ancient works, I thought they were impossible reads. When I picked up his lit book this year and started in, they weren't and it dawned on me that back then I was reading it line by line...like a poem or limerick. I didn't read it as prose, only pausing at the commas and periods. I thought you stopped at the end of every line. Reading them properly, they're absolutely beautiful works.

Now if I can only convince the kid...KansasSuehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13467124743983418197noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-29787858565056754152008-08-27T09:11:00.000-05:002008-08-27T09:11:00.000-05:00Yay!
