Pizza, hamburgers, french fries, peanut butter, diet coke/pepsi, etc. He is a very good cook but only when I am at home. He doesn't like to cook elaborate meals for himself.

I also do the wash before I go. I am forever washing my clothes before a trip. It always happens that way it seems. I make my list of things to remember a couple of weeks ahead. Then as the time grows near I start putting things in my suitcase. I invariably forget something though! Murphy's Law I think!

Have a great week everyone! Friday is only 2 days away! I've got this Golf Tournament to prepare for on Saturday and I haven't even prepared for it.

As far as the DH goes, I don't worry about him. The first time I left him, he was fixing meals, and making the kids wax on and wax off to polish our hardwood floors. Needless to say, the kids were glad to see me when I got back. The Col. sure knows how to run things his way when I'm gone. Wow!

It is also quite chilly here. Bring a sweatshirt--not a little cardy, not a long sleeved t-shirt, a fleece sweatshirt...and probably a jacket. You'll need it--especially if you're going to do some sightseeing. Highs yesterday on the coast were in the mid 60s, although once you get inland, it jumps up to the low 90s.

I'll try to report back on weather conditions in SF after the weekend. I remember when my boys were small and insisted upon dressing themselves. They looked like little ragamuffins.

And once, one of the boys insisted he could pack his own suitcase for a long trip. I let him, but sneaked in while he was outside and peaked. He'd packed one pair of shorts and about a dozen t-shirts for a week-long trip. No underwear, no socks. I evened things out, added socks and undies and put his suitcase in the car. At some point during the trip he had an "Oh crap!" moment and said "Mom, I didn't pack any underwear." I let him go for an hour or so before I told him I'd remedied the situation. I'm pretty sure he never left on a trip without underwear again.

Which reminds me... I need to select the undies I want to pack and make sure they're all clean.Playground Monitorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07444337591281145863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-91924324984454169822008-07-23T09:32:00.000-05:002008-07-23T09:32:00.000-05:00Yeah, ouch on that lightning strike. Some of our neighbors, however, weren't so lucky. Several had damage to their air conditioning systems and kitchen appliances. Some had phone and internet outages.

I drove home in the first wave of that storm yesterday, Angel. I got home before round two hit. When the DH came home from work, he said there was a tree across the road leading into our area. Taking care of all that stuff is a pain.

I came home yesterday to find a storm have once again knocked limbs out of our Bradford pears trees (hate those things!). One particularly large one is down in the driveway. At least that is incentive for the hubby to cut it up. But the kids and I will be hauling limbs later this week.

AngelAngelhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17010424240956906870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-35496735074881192192008-07-23T08:24:00.000-05:002008-07-23T08:24:00.000-05:00I'm in the process of packing, marking details off...I'm in the process of packing, marking details off the Master List as I go. One thing I did was replace the battery in my travel alarm clock; Conference is not the time to have a dead battery! You can't rely on wake-up calls or the hotel clocks.

I have the laundry almost caught up, though the man has enough clothes that he wouldn't run out even if I didn't do the laundry for a month. He can feed himself, an issue we addressed years ago, when I told him that a grown, fully-competent man who couldn't manage to feed himself DESERVED to starve. Hey, I worked longer hours than he ever did, so I was really short in the sympathy department.

Taking care of the girls (my dogs) is the big issue. I leave detailed instructions on how much to feed them, when to feed them, what medications they're on and when to take them, what treats they can have, etc. He's as crazy about them as I am, so that's no issue, and if he has things to do away from home we have a friend who dog-sits and spoils them worse than we do.

So far, I'm on schedule, but with all the repairs going on here this week (lightning hit us night before last, knocking out the garage doors, the security system, DSL, and satellite TV) I might fall behind. As I write this, the garage door people and the satellite people are on the way. Fingers crossed.Maven Lindahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/01191207825985417403noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-47451230153180024612008-07-23T08:16:00.000-05:002008-07-23T08:16:00.000-05:00I usually stock up on snacks, breakfast foods, and...I usually stock up on snacks, breakfast foods, and frozen things for any time I'm gone.
