I remember one day in elementary school when we had green eggs and ham and wore goofy hats in memory of him because he had just passed away.

I don't know if I have a favorite of his books...I love them all (especially The Cat in the Hat and Green Eggs and Ham). Over the years I have found some great quotes from him and his work too that have made me smile and inspired me a bit...including the following (not sure what they are from though):

"Be who you are and say what you feel, because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind."

"Don't cry because it's over. Smile because it happened."

"I have heard there are troubles of more than one kind. Some come from ahead and some come from behind. But I've bought a big bat. I'm all ready you see. Now my troubles are going to have troubles with me!"

Hugs! I scored 7 out of 10.

I forgot about "My Book About Me." One of my boys had it and we had such fun filling everything out. I'd highly recommend it to encourage kids to write. I need to find that book and give it to the son it belonged to (believe it was #1 son). It would be fun to see what he wrote then. OTOH, it might be good blackmail material for when his kids are older. *beg*Playground Monitorhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07444337591281145863noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-1141273651619650662006-03-01T22:27:00.000-06:002006-03-01T22:27:00.000-06:00I read most of my Dr. Seuss in spanish, oddly enou...I read most of my Dr. Seuss in spanish, oddly enough. I had read them as a kid, but I sort of blasted through that reading level and went on to other things (like Harlequins at age 10). When I got into high school, though, my spanish class would read Dr. Seuss because, well, that was our spanish reading level. Mi favorito en Espanol es "Eres tu mi mama?" pero mi favorito en Engles es The Bread Butter Battle. Green Eggs & Ham ranks up there pretty high too.

Warning: Smarty Pants Trivia Moment...I heard he wrote that as the result of a bet that he couldn't write a whole children's book using only 50 words.

SPAndrea Laurence AKA Smarty Pantshttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13518751514879244662noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-18688033.post-1141270681385262822006-03-01T21:38:00.000-06:002006-03-01T21:38:00.000-06:00My favorite was Marvin K Money Will You Please Go ...My favorite was Marvin K Money Will You Please Go Now and One Fish Two Fish. That's still my favorite. I also remember reading about the many hats of Bartholemew Cubbins and about McElliot's Pool (those may be spelled wrong). My boys had lots of Dr. Seuss and the books are packed in my "grandma" box to be shared with future generations.

Too bad I don't have a red Dr. Seuss hat.
